Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CSCS Green Card?
The CSCS Green Card is commonly used to refer to the CSCS Labourer Card. It is intended for people carrying out labouring duties on construction sites.
What course do I need for a CSCS Green Card?
For a Labourer Card, CSCS requires an accepted qualification. One recognised route is the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.
Does the online course give me my CSCS Green Card?
No. Completing the online training course does not automatically provide a CSCS card or the accredited qualification.
You must successfully complete the accredited examination to receive the relevant certification, and you must also meet the other CSCS requirements before applying for your card.
Is the accredited exam included?
It depends on which course you choose.
Our online training course does not include the accredited exam.
Our online course + invigilated accredited exam includes both the training and examination.
Do I have to pass the accredited exam?
Yes, if you require the Level 1 qualification/certification for your CSCS Labourer Card application, you must successfully complete the accredited examination.
Do I need to take the CITB test as well?
Yes. CSCS states that Labourer Card applicants must pass the appropriate CITB Health, Safety and Environment test, unless an approved alternative applies. The Operatives test is the relevant test for Labourer Card applications.
Is the CITB test included in your course?
No. The CITB HS&E test is separate from the FMSCS training and accredited examination and is booked directly through CITB.
Can I complete the training online?
Yes. FMSCS provides the Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment training online.
How do I apply for my CSCS Labourer Card?
Once you have the required qualification/certification and have passed the appropriate CITB HS&E test, you can apply for your CSCS Labourer Card through CSCS.
How long is a CSCS Green Card valid?
The first Labourer Card issued is currently valid for two years. Workers who continue working in labouring roles may then renew for five years, subject to the CSCS requirements.
Can I get a Green Card if I’m new to construction?
The Labourer Card is intended for people carrying out labouring duties. You must meet the relevant qualification and test requirements before applying.
Is the CSCS Green Card the same as the Labourer Card?
Yes. The green card is officially the CSCS Labourer Card.
